Payment Processing Accept Credit Card and Debit Cards for Holidays

payment processing accept credit cardWith the rise of plastic payments, there has been debate over which form is used most. While payment processing accept credit card and debit cards, there is a tossup in popularity. In a recent report from ABC news, it was revealed that may shoppers opt to use their debit cards to complete their purchase. Now, with the holiday season quickly approaching, researchers are hypothesizing that debit cards will continue to be used in high numbers to help to reduce the growing credit debt owed.

"That's an important advantage of debit," stated researcher Josh Frank, from the Center for Responsible Lending. "A lot of people don't use their credit card because they don't want to get over their head into debt, which is a good concern. With debit, you're spending money that you have, if you haven't opted into an overdraft program."

The company said that they are warning all payment processing accept platinum credit card merchant accounts, as well as local businesses of the error and that it should be fixed by the end of the week.

Unfortunately, this was not the first experience that Hannaford has had with malfunctions in their credit card processing. Back in 2008, over four million POS terminals were affected by the error. "Clearly, consumer confidence is being shaken by this constant stream of breaches."

Visa Makes Profrit to Accept Credit Card Payment Processing

accept credit card payment processingOver the past years, the “need” for a credit card has expanded greatly. Ian Wyatt stated, "Credit card demand has exploded in recent years. Today, credit cards are responsible for over $2.5 trillion in transactions each year.” Since there is such a high demand, investors in credit card companies are hoping to develop businesses to charge for the ability to accept credit card payment processing. Then, when customers use their card, they can charge the processing fee and keep all the revenue in their company.

One major credit card company, Visa, has opted to go this route. "In exchange for providing this digital processing network, Visa charges banks a fee to process card payments on their own plastic. The more frequently consumers charge with their Visa plastic cards, the more the company will earn by way of fees.”

Accept Credit Card Payment Processing to Improve Credit Score

With the economy in such poor shape, many people are finding their credit score being dinged. However, those individuals who have had a rough time in the past with credit know just how hard it is to receive approval on a credit card. Follow PCI DSS When Going to Accept Credit Card Payment Processing

accept credit card payment processingPCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a guideline of rules and procedures to make sure that confidential information stored on credit cards is held to the utmost secure measures. So, it has always been assumed that if a company abided to these standards, they would be less prone to feel the effects of an intrusion.

"The Verizon Payment Card Industry Compliance Report gives organizations an unprecedented view into the state of PCI compliance across the board, specifically pointing out which requirements are most difficult to meet," stated VP at Verizon Business, Peter Tippett. "We hope this report will help organizations approach PCI compliance in a more informed and effective way. Ultimately, we want the same thing as the rest of the industry: fewer payment card losses and data breaches."

Having the ability to accept credit card payment processing helps promote business. But if data breaches effect customer’s trust in your store, business will decrease. Abiding by the PCI DSS standards will help to ensure that your company is protected.

Major Cities Accept Credit Card Payment Processing

accept credit card payment processingMany city offices in Torrington City will now have the ability to accept credit card payment processing. Departments such as the police department, the courts/clerk, and engineering services will have the ability to accept major credit cards. While they will be accepting the four major cards, MasterCard, American Express, Visa, and Discover, customers who use this method of payment for their transaction will have to pay a three percent processing fee.

The reason for the system is to make a more convenient way to pay for city services. Quartiero stated, "People call from California and they need their birth certificate right away and they can't make a payment. They have to send a check.” Having the capabilities to pay by credit or debit will quicken this process as well.
