Payment Processing Accept Platinum Credit Card Business Need to Keep An Eye Out

payment processing accept platinum credit cardMany customers were charged twice on many transactions made in the Hannaford Supermarkets in Maine last week when the stored credit card processing provider, First Data, had a “technical error.” The error apparently hit a malfunction when customers tried to use either MasterCard or Visa. The company said that they are warning all payment processing accept platinum credit card merchant accounts, as well as local businesses of the error and that it should be fixed by the end of the week.

Unfortunately, this was not the first experience that Hannaford has had with malfunctions in their credit card processing. Back in 2008, over four million POS terminals were affected by the error. While the store met the PCI DSS, intrusions still occurred. "Just because they are compliant, it doesn't mean they are safe," stated Graham Cluley, of Sophos computer security. "Clearly, consumer confidence is being shaken by this constant stream of breaches."
