While payment processing accept credit card and debit cards, there is a tossup in popularity. In a recent report from ABC news, it was revealed that may shoppers opt to use their debit cards to complete their purchase. Now, with the holiday season quickly approaching, researchers are hypothesizing that debit cards will continue to be used in high numbers to help to reduce the growing credit debt owed.

"That's an important advantage of debit," stated researcher Josh Frank, from the Center for Responsible Lending. "A lot of people don't use their credit card because they don't want to get over their head into debt, which is a good concern. With debit, you're spending money that you have, if you haven't opted into an overdraft program."
